An American Adventure
When you emerge from a body of water, what is you do ? You inhale a deep meditative breath, feel the last few droplets drip from your skin and you walk towards the shoreline with your back towards the sea. You don’t dare to dissect or question the moments of submersion when submerged, you float in the present, you don’t fight against the flow of the current.
Such was the case on a daily basis when I walked amongst newness along the streets of American Cities and towns. I discovered a newness in the mannerisms of the people I met and the pace of the places in which their faces called home. I discovered a newness in myself, gifts of perspective when you take up the role of the wandering flaneur observing intimacy from a distance, comparing the contrasts that exist in plain sight when you observe the American dream in all it’s glory and heartache.
I unearthed raw material through experience, an experience that I am grateful for. There were songs on every street I traipsed and characters knocking on every door I lay behind at night.
To those I met along the way, let’s do it again when the then because now.
Love and light. David X
